# Radar

The Weather Radar section provides a comprehensive view of precipitation and storm evolution by combining multiple radar sources into a single, easy-to-use experience. This includes traditional U.S. weather radar, a future radar estimate for short-term trend awareness, and high-resolution local radar networks. Together, these layers give users greater situational awareness across local, regional, and national operations.

### Current Radar

The Current Radar feature displays observed precipitation from the past 1 hour through the most recent radar update. To view the Current Radar:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Expand the <mark style="color:blue;">**Radar menu**</mark> by clicking on it on the left side of the screen.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Toggle on <mark style="color:blue;">**Current Radar**</mark>.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Use the legend on the right side to interpret the intensity of the precipitation. Lower values will depict lighter precipitation (snow and light rain) and higher values will depict heavier precipitation (heavy rain and hail).
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Use the slider bar at the bottom of the screen to control the point in time or press the play icon to loop the frames.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### MyRadar NowCAST

The Future Radar displays an estimate of precipitation movement up to 1 hour into the future based on current radar trends and proprietary algorithms. To view this data:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Expand the <mark style="color:blue;">**Radar menu**</mark> by clicking on it on the left side of the screen.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Toggle on <mark style="color:blue;">**MyRadar NowCAST**</mark>.

{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Use the legend on the right side to interpret the intensity and type of precipitation.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Use the slider bar at the bottom of the screen to control the point in time or press the play icon to loop the frames.
{% endstep %}
{% endstepper %}

### CASA Radar

TruWeather has partnered with the University of Massachusetts to bring in their high-resolution X-band radar network that is expanding under the CASA (Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere) program. These systems use short range and high-resolution radar to provide detailed visibility of precipitation and storm features in select locations. To view this data:

{% stepper %}
{% step %}
Ensure the location is set to region that has coverage by a CASA radar system.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Expand the <mark style="color:blue;">**Radar menu**</mark> by clicking on it on the left side of the screen.
{% endstep %}

{% step %}
Toggle on <mark style="color:blue;">**CASA Radar**</mark>.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the following URL with the `ask` and `goal` query parameters:

```
GET https://truweathersolutions.gitbook.io/info/documentation/web-based-user-interface/radar.md?ask=<question>&goal=<user_goal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is what the user is ultimately trying to achieve, the reason they need the answer. Sharing it helps GitBook give you a better, more relevant answer. A goal is most helpful when it describes the outcome the user wants rather than restating the question. For example, with `ask=how do I create an API token`, a goal like `automate deployments from our CI pipeline` lets GitBook tailor the answer to that use case.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
